Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

What is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? This disorder is defined principally by severe and prolonged fatigue which no amount of rest seems to alleviate. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, rather flippantly nicknamed the “yuppie flu,” is most common in women aged 30-50. Many researchers theorize that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is related to herpes virus-6, as lymphocytes of the diagnosed frequently contain this virus. This section contains information on Chronic Fatigue Symptoms as well as Chronic Fatigue Treatment.

What is the relationship of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome to Fibromyalgia? Both are largely considered “women’s diseases,” and are marked by significantly overlapping symptoms and treatments. Technically, however, a person could just as easily be diagnosed with both syndromes as one without the other. Fibromyalgia alone is not typically connected to the presence of herpes virus-6. While some speculate that Fibromyalgia has some sort of viral connection, this has never been proven.
