Chronic Fatigue Symptoms
At the head of the list of Chronic Fatigue symptoms is a persistent, severe fatigue brought on by less than 50% of normal exertion. This fatigue must have lasted for six months or longer, and must be unaffected by any amount of rest. Secondary symptoms include a low fever (around 101), a sore throat, lymph node tenderness, aches and pains, and sleep disorders. There are also psychologically related symptoms such as feelings of depression, isolation, and anxiety.
Chronic fatigue symptoms overlap noticeably with Fibromyalgia symptoms. Both syndromes are often associated with sleep disturbances, flu-like aches, fatigue, and general malaise. However, Fibromyalgia Syndrome is not typically accompanied by fever. Also, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome does not require pain to be present for its diagnosis, as does Fibromyalgia Syndrome.
